AMNESTY COORDINATOR COMMENDS ONDO STATE YOUTHS FOR PEACEFUL CONDUCT DURING VICE PRESIDENT’S VISIT.




The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (Rtd) says his office would continue to leverage on the success story of the Amnesty Programme in the region, with a view to sustaining the ongoing youth empowerment initiatives aimed at strengthening the existing peace and stability in the region, just as he commended the Ondo state youths for their peaceful conduct during the visit of Vice President His Excellency Professor Yemi Osinbajo to the state on Tuesday.

Gen. Boroh who was on the entourage of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Igbokoda in Ileje local government area of Ondo state to participate in the Ondo State Niger Delta Communities’ Stakeholders Town Hall Meeting with the Vice President, as a side event of the Second Niger Delta Council meeting, made the remark while exchanging views with newsmen shortly after the meeting, reiterating that President Muhammandu Buhari’s sincere commitment to the peace and infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region has increased the confidence of the people of the region in the present administration.

He assured the riverine people of Ondo state that the present administration is poised to making life most meaningful at the grassroots through what he referred to as “quick impacts projects” meant to address the immediate needs of the people, such as provision of portable drinking water, health centres, recreational facilities, ICT centres and entertainment facilities among other social amenities that would create direct impact on the rural dwellers.

While commending the Ondo state governor for the warm hospitality during his visit to the state, Gen. Boroh noted that the Amnesty Office was ready to work with stakeholders in the region, including the state governors, traditional rulers, opinion leaders, women and youth leaders across the region, informing that his office is engaged with a number of empowerment initiatives that would meaningfully engage youths in the region, particularly the beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, as part of efforts to reintegrate the ex-agitators back to their communities with sustainable sources of livelihoods.
